Laura Jensen has spent her entire life in the Kent School District, attending Fairwood, Meeker, and Kentridge High School. Her connection to the community runs deep, both as a student and as a staff member.
Over the years, she worked in multiple roles across the district, including substitute paraeducator, school adjustment para, library para, and 1:1 support. She also served as a union representative, advocating for staff and students alike.
Through this experience, Laura saw firsthand where the district succeeds—and where it falls short. She has been a strong voice for students with special needs, raising concerns about gaps in support, literacy outcomes, and program resources.
She believes in accountability, transparency, and making sure funding decisions prioritize classrooms and student success above all else.
Laura ran for school board to help ensure every student—regardless of background—has access to the support and opportunities they need to thrive.
